Clare 0-26 Westmeath 1-18

Clare emerged victorious in a challenge game played in excellent conditions at Clareabbey on Friday evening.

Westmeath who featured 13 of the side that defeated Kilkenny in last years u21 Championship led at the break 0-9 to 0-8 having played with a slight wind advantage.

Clare replaced Aron Shanagher as a precaution early in this game but good points from Ian Galvin, Mikey O Shea, Fergus Killeen and Ben O'Gorman kept them in touch of a lively Westmeath outfit.

Clare replaced David Fitzgerald and Jason McCarthy early in the second period .

Mike Moloney impressed on his introduction and with Dara Walsh,Conor O Halloran and Nathan Fox on top in defense Clare took control scoring 18 second half points despite also hitting a number of wides.

Michael O Malley led by example in this period and excellent scores from O Malley, Jack Cunningham, O Shea, Billy Connors and the outstanding galvin ensured bictory for Clare.

Clare play Kilkenny next Saturday as they continue preparations for their upcoming Championship campaign.
