Clare Senior Hurler Aron Shanagher (Wolfe Tones na Sionna) was among 5 Clare players who lined out for University of Limerick in their All Ireland Fresher Hurling Championship defeat by DCU on Thursday.

UL were beaten by 1-15 to 1-13 in a game that also Nathan Fox (Parteen), Cathal Noonan (Killanena), Michael O'Shea (Smith O'Briens) and Paraic O'Loughlin (Clonlara) line out for the Limerick side.

Extra-time was needed in the game after the sides finished 1-8 (UL) to 0-11 (DCU) after normal time in the Mardyke.
