Clare Senior Hurling joint managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor say they will make a call on the fitness of Shane O'Donnell later this week as the Banner prepare for their Allianz National Hurling League Round 3 clash with Tipperary.

The Eire Óg man is suffering from a knee strain and is fighting to be fit for this Sunday's top of the table clash at Semple Stadium (3.00 p.m. throw-in).

The Banner were second from bottom after their 7 point defeat at the hands of Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn two weeks ago but the 13 point win over Kilkenny on Sunday propelled them into second place behind Tipperary. A win against Tipperary will Put Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor's team level on top with the Premier County. Clare would need to win by 8 points or more to go top outright.

Sunday's game will come too soon for Conor McGrath and Captain Patrick O'Connor who are both nearing recovery from shoulder operations in late 2016.
