Clare suffered a defeat at the hands of Cork in the opening round of the Allianz National Hurling League on Saturday evening at Pairc Uí Rinn.
In front of an attendance of almost 5,800, a Cork team filled with a mix of experience and youth outgunned Clare on a scoreline of 0-21 to 1-11.
Ballyea's Tony Kelly was Clare's top scorer with 6 points, all from play, with Clare's goal coming courtesy of a Podge Collins finish just before half time.
Next up for Clare is a meeting with Kilkenny in Cusack Park next Sunday.
